The aim of the Sustainable Development Strategy is to identify and develop actions that will improve the quality of life for ourselves, and for future generations. The strategy involves the whole community whether we are building industry and commence, supplying goods or services, using public or private sector services, developing our communities, or caring for our families. The strategy should be seen as a highly participatory instrument, intended to “ensure socially responsible economic development while protecting the resource base and the environment for the benefit of future generations”. (UNCED, 1992)
